CommUNITY Fair
Beyond Recycling: Repair, Re-Use Rethink and Commit to Community 
at the Red Hook Community Center

Mix sustainability, crafts, cooking, science (for kids and adults), community engagement and a lot of fun this coming Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, Monday, January 21, 2019 11:30am-2:30pm.

Bring one or more households item to the Repair Café & learn how to fix things with a Repair Coach*;
Build a Bat Box or a Bug Motel at the Makerspace,
Make no-sew t-shirt bags;
Learn from sewing experts;
Enjoy homemade goodies;
Donate non-perishable food or personal hygiene items;
Attend a workshop on organic gardening;
Connect with local non profit organizations to volunteer;
Honor MLK and learn more about his legacy - screening of My Friend Martin is at noon;
Explore home weatherizing and energy bill assistance programs and sustainable practices; and
Pledge to incorporate Sustainability Goals into your life as your New Year's resolution.



*the volunteer Repair Coaches who have said they can be at our launch can fix books, address computer issues (software and hardware), do minor bike tuneups, fix appliances, do wood repairs and sew/patch/repair clothing and other soft items!  We hope the Bard student volunteers can serve a Geek Squad function and provide guidance on apps and other cell phone tricks and tips.Red Hook's first Repair Café wants your skills. Saturday, January 19 for MLK Day of Engagement: Recycle Electronics
Recycle electronics at the Town of Red Hook Recycling Center.  Visit our Ramp up Recycling page for details, including a list of acceptable e-wastes.  There will be fees for old televisions and computer monitors this year. Questions?  email reduce@bard.edu
